The Dundalk Democrat, 4 May 2002:

Dundalk Bombing enquiry

Garda Commissioner, Pat Byrne, told this paper on Friday afternoon that it was his understanding that the force were cooperating fully with the Barron Inquiry into the Dundalk and Dublin/Monaghan bombings.

"The Gardai are assisting in every way possible and are cooperating fully with the enquiries into the Dublin/Monaghan and Dundalk bombings", said the Commissioner. "We have liaison officers working with the Barron Inquiry".

A reply is still awaited on a further query sent to the Commissioner's office by this paper on Monday afternoon seeking more information on the nature and extent of the Garda cooperation.

On the issue of the still unresolved murder of Seamus Ludlow in 1976, the Commissioner said that the file on the case was still open.
