Ludlow killers to be named
A new inquest into the death of Seamus Ludlow, who was murdered ion 1978, may reveal the names of his killers.
It is understood that information given by his relatives several months ago to Nuala O'Loan will be made public in the coming inquest, the second to be held into the twenty-four year old murder mystery. Two of the bullets have now been sent to the garda for investigation and there is a growing belief among relatives that he was killed by Red Hand Commandos from the Newtownards/Comber area, possibly linked to the SAS.
It was pointed out that several days after the murder an eight man SAS patrol was arrested by Garda a few miles from the murder scene. However, four years ago, a Newtownards man claimed that he had been a passenger in the gunmen's car after a drinking session looking for a victim.
This man will be asked to attend the inquest to be held in Dundalk later in the year. Allegations of a protected police informer involved in the murder of Seamus Ludlow are also expected to surface at the inquest.
Ludlow family note for clarification of the above:
Seamus Ludlow was of course murdered on the night of 1st and 2nd May 1976 - that is, 26 years ago - and it is believed that two of the fatal bullets were sent north by the Gardai to the Northern Ireland Forensic Science Laboratory.
