Four pages on this Ludlow family website feature work by the
distinguished Belfast journalist Ed Moloney, former Northern Editor
of the Dublin Sunday Tribune newspaper. These include his
first two Sunday Tribune reports about this case, his speech at our 25th anniversary
commemoration in 1991, and an interview he gave on air to independent LMFM radio
station's "Loose
Talk", about the Seamus Ludlow killing, at 10.45am, on 2 May 2001
It was Ed Moloney who first brought the truth behind this foul
murder of Seamus Ludlow into the public domain. It was Ed who
interviewed the alleged wuitness to this killing, one Paul Hosking
after his release from custody by the RUC. Hosking was one of four
suspects, the others including two former British Army UDR
personnel, who were arrested by the RUC early in 1998. All four were
held at Castlereagh Holding Centre, Belfast, and interrogated about
their alleged role in the murder of Seamus Ludlow. Ed's story
appeared in The Sunday Tribune of 8 March 1998.
The following week Ed reported the Ludlow family's reaction to
the new revelations, including their allegations of garda cover-up
and a smear campaign. Ed continued to write about this case
throughout the remainder of his tenure with the Sunday Tribune.
